Introduction
Accessible React components built with Base UI and Tailwind CSS v4. Install with the shadcn CLI, then edit the source right in your project.
What it is
Install cd/ui components with the shadcn CLI. The files land right in components/ui and stay yours to edit. Base UI handles focus and keyboard behavior. cd/ui adds the styling, with bundle size and motion in mind.
Principles
Weight measured at build time
We bundle each component and measure its gzip size at build time. Average: 695 B. Largest: 1.7 kB.
Server by default
9 of 32 components run as React Server Components and send no JavaScript to the browser.
Accessibility from the ground up
Base UI handles focus, keyboard, and aria attribute behavior. You compose these patterns without starting from scratch.
Start without ceremony
Each component has one import and a lean API. In Form, pass a Zod schema and connect the fields by name.
Motion in moderation
Short animations built with transform and opacity. Every component respects prefers-reduced-motion.
The code stays with you
The shadcn CLI copies each file into your project. Want to change a detail? Open the component and edit it directly.
When to use
Use cd/ui when you want a head start without giving up control. It works with Next.js and other React apps on Tailwind CSS v4. Install only what you need, then change the source however you like.
